This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy Team managing coastal flood and erosion risk.
Due to an increasing programme of Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management (FCERM) works, we are seeking two individuals to join our existing team of six Environmental, Licencing and Consenting Officers. We are looking for entry level coastal environmental engineers (salary band £18,896 - £31,855). Successful candidates will have the opportunity to progress through this career graded roll as they develop the experience required.
The Eastern Solent Coastal Partnership (ESCP) formed an alliance in 2012 to deliver a combined, efficient and comprehensive coastal management service across the coastlines of four Local Authorities; Fareham Borough Council, Gosport Borough Council, Havant Borough Council and Portsmouth City Council.
The innovative initiative was driven forward by a need for coastal management that recognises coastal flooding and erosion risk impacts are not exclusive to Local Authority boundaries. The ESCP coastline is diverse and includes three major harbours of significant environmental importance and over 160km of coastline.
These roles involve supporting the
preparation of Planning and Marine Licence Applications and the production of
Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), including Habitat Regulations

We are also working in Partnership with the Environment Agency, developing Habitat Creation Initiatives in the Solent region as part of our Regional Habitat Creation Programme.
We are looking for applicants who have a passion for the coastal environment, understanding the careful balance between this and the need for FCERM. One post will be focussed towards undertaking environmental site audits of construction works on the ground, ensuring environmental compliance on sites, and undertaking habitat and species surveys. The second post will be focussed towards general EIA, HRA, WFD and project support. We are particularly interested in applicants with knowledge of the following: heritage and archaeology, contaminated land, health and air quality, socio-economics, amenity and recreation, species and habitats surveys.
You will have a degree in an environmental / engineering / coastal management / planning related discipline. You will be enthusiastic, environmentally aware and have confidence in your ability to find solutions to problems. Familiarity with computer software applications, including GIS would be an advantage.
