Head of Licensing

We are looking for an experienced licensing expert to join our team in the UK and help drive commercial growth and brand value for our retail business.

The Head of Licensing will have a proven track record in brand licensing sales, account management, brand planning and product development – in other words, you will be a fully rounded licensing professional who can be trusted to maintain and develop crucial licensee relationships.  You will be able to take a strategic view of the Club’s portfolio and develop ways to maximise potential from existing brands, as well as see opportunities for new clients.

You will also need to be comfortable with process, e.g. setting annual financial budgets for revenue and expenditure, preparing and delivering contingency plans as well as negotiating and generating contractual agreements (alongside the Club’s GC).  You will also be responsible for developing compelling marketing materials that communicate the Club’s brand values and processes to other members of the wider Commercial team and our global partners.

As a proven people manager, you will have experience of developing and leading teams to provide best-in-class service.  It will be important for you to be a mentor to our licensing team; providing them with regular coaching and training, along with carrying out performance reviews.

The successful candidate must be self-motivated, enthusiastic and a personable licensing professional who can not only meet and exceed targets, but also work under pressure to achieve tight deadlines.

You will need to demonstrate significant licensing experience in a similar senior level commercial role, with good knowledge of licensing models, e.g. DTR.

You will have an excellent level of business acumen, with a strong grasp of figures and the ability to produce accurate reports.  This role will also call for someone with strong interpersonal skills and confidence, who can build strong working relationships with colleagues within the Club as well as with suppliers and the Club’s licensing partners.  It will therefore be imperative for you to be able to demonstrate excellent communication and customer facing skills.

You will also need to be professional and credible, with an ability to present a professional, smart and confident image to clients when representing the Club. To be successful in this role you will need to be a highly organised individual with a structured approach to working and meeting deadlines. An ability to use your initiative, effectively problem solve and be able to prioritise an often conflicting workload will be essential.

You should be IT literate with a good level of proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Our Licensing Team is part of the Club’s Merchandising team which also includes our Liverpool FC Retail team, which is a multi-channel operation. The Club has 7 stores located at the Anfield Stadium, Williamson Square, Chester, Belfast, Liverpool One, Birkenhead and Dublin.  Liverpool FC Retail has one of the most comprehensive product ranges in world football; we carry at least a thousand different products at one time, which increase during key trading periods, such as our annual kit launches and three seasonal catalogues.

The Licensing team supports brand awareness outside of the official club retail channels.

This is a permanent, full time position, which will be based at our office in Liverpool or in London.  This role will also involve significant travel both nationally and internationally.

This role offers a competitive salary, with a gross annual salary in the region of £100,000 to £120,000 in addition to a Car Allowance and Private Health Insurance.

The closing date for applications for this role is:  21st November 2018.

LFC is committed to equality and diversity and apply this to our recruitment process. We are also committed to the safety and welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults, meaning safer recruitment methods are applied (Inc. DBS disclosures) to all appointments with vulnerable groups.  The Club expects all staff to share our commitments.
